Cliffe Farm Dairy – Sustainability statement

 

We are a family run business with a holiday let situated on our organic farm on the edge of Salisbury Plain. We have always made our cottage as ecologically sound as possible.

Our aim is to aid biodiversity in the surrounding area and to make the cottage as carbon neutral as possible.

We use environmentally friendly cleaning products, refillable, locally produced toiletries and compostable cling film and bags.

Our guests are asked to recycle paper, glass, cans and cardboard. We continue to look at other ways of recycling constantly.

We collect rainwater for our plants.

All toilet rolls, tissues and kitchen towels are all recycled and compostable.

​

Our welcome box of goodies is home made or from local producers and our guests often purchase locally produced food.

We have an air source heat pump for hot water and heating. All radiators have their own thermostats and combined with thermal insulation and double glazing the house is moving towards zero carbon. There are solar panels on the roof and an EV charger outside.

We encourage visitors to eat locally and visit local attractions. We encourage walking the local countryside to have car free days while they are here. We have maps showing walking routes and cycling routes with a lock up area for bikes.

 

If they are interested we encourage them to learn about our livestock as we keep rare and native breeds of farm animal.

Wildlife is important to us and we have barn owl boxes as well as kestrel boxes up in our trees. The exterior wall of the cottage have solitary bee bricks built in and there is a hedgehog house in the yard behind.
